AETHERSTREAM

A TELEVISION IN EORZEA

LIVE FROM THE LIFESTREAM

Aetherstream is a Dalamud plugin that puts a working screen in Final Fantasy XIV — painted onto a real furnishing, so the game lights and occludes the picture like anything else in the room. Tune in live TV, Twitch, YouTube or your own Plex library, and watch together from a six-character party code.

WHAT'S ON

CH 1

Live TV

Thousands of channels from the public iptv-org directory, or any M3U playlist of your own — a channel guide, numbered presets, channel up/down.

CH 2

Your Plex library

Sign in with a code at plex.tv/link and browse films and shows as posters. Your token stays on your machine.

CH 3

Twitch & YouTube

Paste a channel name or a link into the Watch tab. Twitch works with nothing installed; YouTube and most other sites go through yt-dlp.

CH 4

Watch together

Make a party, send the six-character code. Everyone who pastes it sees your broadcast on their own screen, in their own house.

INSTALL

Aetherstream is installed through Dalamud's plugin installer, from a custom repository. Two minutes, no downloads by hand.

Add the repository

In the game, open Dalamud settings (/xlsettings) → ExperimentalCustom Plugin Repositories. Paste this address, press the +, and save:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CorkedFever/Aetherstream/main/repo.json

Install the plugin

Open the plugin installer (/xlplugins), search for Aetherstream, and install it.

Turn it on

/aether opens the set. /aether play <source> starts something straight away; /aether stop ends it.

WHAT IT NEEDS

The plugin ships with its own decoder — most of it works with nothing installed. A couple of sources want a helper on your machine, and the Setup tab shows at a glance what has been found.

FFXIV with Dalamudrequired

Launch the game through XIVLauncher. If you already use plugins, you have this.

Nothing elseTwitch · Plex · Live TV · direct URLs

These work out of the box.

yt-dlpYouTube, Kick, most other sites

In PowerShell: winget install yt-dlp — then restart the game; it reads PATH at startup. Already downloaded it somewhere? Point the Setup tab's file picker at it instead.

DenoYouTube specifically

winget install DenoLand.Deno, then restart the game. yt-dlp uses it to solve YouTube's challenges — without it, YouTube half-works at best.

ffmpegonly to broadcast to a party

winget install ffmpeg. Watching a party needs nothing.

HOW TO USE IT

Put the picture on a screen

Screen tab → Known screens → Everkeep Monitor. Stand next to your monitor furnishing and click — the picture lands on the nearest one, fitted and ready. One tip worth the trouble: recolour the wall behind it black in-game. The panel is an additive effect, and a black wall is the single biggest picture-quality win.

No furnishing? A floating panel works anywhere — it just draws over the world instead of living in it.

Tune something in

The Watch tab takes anything: a Twitch channel name, a YouTube link, a direct stream URL, or a party code. The Library tab browses Plex. The Live TV tab is a channel guide — search it, then right-click a channel to pin it. Pins become numbered presets, and the remote's channel ▲/▼ and last-channel buttons step through them like a real set.

Run your own station? Add an ErsatzTV or Tunarr playlist alongside the public list from the guide's playlist picker.

Watch together

On the Share tab, connect to a party server, make a party, and copy its six-character code. Friends paste the code into their Watch tab — that's the whole of it, once, forever. Whatever you broadcast, the room sees on their own screens.

Your invite can carry your screen setup too, so guests land the picture on the same furnishing in one click.

READING THE SET

The screen tells you what's happening the way a television would — no logs to dig through.

NO SIGNAL

Nothing is playing. Pick an input below the screen.

TUNING…

Connecting and buffering. Give it a few seconds.

SIGNAL LOST

The stream stopped sending. Press ↻ to pick up where it stopped — live TV channels retry themselves.

NO PICTURE

Something's wrong, and the reason is written right under the words.
